So I asked my three year old what I should get for my birthday, and out of the blue she says a TATOO!
It’s one of those things that I have always thought about getting, and this year there really isn’t’ anything else that is jumping out at me. So.. I’m going to start my wheels a turning on a design to see what I come up with.
If nothing comes to mind, then nothing, but who knows… I might be getting some ink! And I owe it all to my daughter!
Anyone got any ideas?
So it’s the simple ideas that take off. The idea… click to feed people.

The site uses an addictive, and simple vocabulary quiz that for every word you guess correct, they donate 10 grains of rice to the UN. The rice is distributed by the United Nations World Food Program. The rice is paid for by the advertisers whose names you see on the bottom of your vocabulary screen. This is regular advertising for these companies, but it is also something more. Through their advertising at FreeRice, these companies support both learning (free vocabulary for everyone) and reducing hunger (free rice for the hungry).
The site went live a month ago, which has proved a runaway success and has already generated enough rice to feed 50,000 people, the United Nations World Food Program announced on Friday. In the short time up, the Internet community has quickly caught on, and on November 8 alone 77 million grains were donated — equivalent to more than seven million correct clicks.
So go out and play, and change the world!

Okay… so I haven’t been to Paypal in a few months, and I just happed to remember that I have a few bucks in my account, so I wanted to get an account status. Well, low and behold PayPal went under the knife! Not only a facelift, but it got some new branding as well…the logo has been redone. So after wondering if this is the act of Chinese’s hackers, I started to look around, and I must say that I was so not impressed.
As an artist it is SO easy to walk into a web project and hear the words re-design and thing you’re going to throw it all out and start fresh… well that’s not always a good thing when it comes to the web. See what a lot of people fail to understand is that user interaction is based on form AND habit. If I visit a site often, I get into a habit of just interacting with the site based on memory and not so much the visuals (nav color, button size, images). So if you throw it all out and not provide any sort of bridge back to the old layout, the user will have a hard time not only accepting the new visuals, but then they will have to learn the site all over again.

Here is a GREAT article that breaks down the whole site and re-branding of Pay Pal…it’s worth the read.
Paypal design review
Okay, so I did it. I dropped some cash and got me one the eight wonder of the world, an iPhone. Everything about it is so slick. I came from the Audiovox SMT5600 (Windows Mobile 2003) which was a great phone in it’s day. So going from the first generation of the MS mobile operating system to this UI wonder from Apple is a joy.
I love the fact that it has WiFi. Instead of sitting down in bed with a laptop, I now can pull up my email, the web, RSS feeds… it’s great!
After put it through a few test and the coolness has worn off a little I’ll post a full review of it for you all.
So it took me months to pick out, buy, just put it all together. SO I thought it would be only fitting that I show you all my costume for Halloween.

So, as Terry Storch posted a few days ago, we are pulling down the LifeChurch.tv site and building her back up from the ground up. Framework and all. New Content Management System (Expression Engine) and new design.
SO, I thought I would try to keep you up to date on the project as we go along with my thoughts and when I can, a few sneaks here and there!
So…. check back for more.
So, do you remember a few months back Sony did that balls rolling down a SanFran street ad? Well they are at it again. This time they upped the scope!

Okay, so I HATE MS Word. I HATE OFFICE. I ditched that and moved on. For the last few months I have been using Google Docs, which after this last upgrade, has come a long way. But, I have always found it a little lacking. SO….enter Buzzword. I know what you are saying, a word processing app is a word processing app. But this is different…it’s all Flash. Yep, that’s right Flash.
Over the last few weeks I have been using it and loving it. Since late September it was in private beta, and now it’s open to the public. On top of that, the makers Virtual Ubiquity, announced last week that they will be acquired by Adobe… so that only means that Buzzword is here to stay!

Go ahead and check it out for your self: www.buzzword.com
Okay… I need a new phone. My cell phone while served me well is just getting to the point that I’m ready to throw it in the trash.
I’m not under contract, so I’m good to make a jump from the big blue AT&T monster… but to where? I am loking for something that has WiFi, and a good camera, and not too much!
Got any ideas?
So unlike a lot of churches LifeChurch gives away all their resources from their message series… all artwork files, all video loops, all messages… all of it. The service is called OPEN. It has been around for a little over a year now. In that time they have a great response, and it’s to the point now that they get around 600 downloads a DAY!!!
So, when it launched it was kind of forced into a content management system that was a little old, and didn’t fit the need of the site… so the digerati stepped in. We stripped it down, talked to the users to find out what they wanted, added some Web2.0 goodies, and slapped it on the bottom and pushed it out the door.

After 10 weeks, here it is. the new LifeChurch.tv OPEN
